I wish I could afford to give this DVD to every person who stares at my daughter in the grocery store line! This film is the most thorough and accessible explanation of autism I have seen in many years. Hartman helps the viewer understand what autism is and that it is only one
facet of an individual with autism. He advocates that a person with autism deserves to be seen first as a person, and then as someone with autism. This video is very suitable for many audiences. It's a great training video for professionals new to the field of autism. It's a sound tool for parents to gain a deeper knowledge of the world of autism. It's a good training tool for parents who need a complete explanation of the disorder for people who might be working with a particular family member. And last, I really wish I had had this film 14 years ago when my daughter was first diagnosed. I was bombarded with information at that time and was struggling to absorb it all. I had family and friends who needed me to explain what was going on with our daughter and with our family. The information was too new to me to give them a good explanation. This DVD would have taken care of that for me completely. It would have provided a good base for them and would have brought focus
to our discussions. Hats off to Steve Hartman for creating this wonderful film!!
